Becoming a new mother is one of the most wonderful yet challenging times in a woman’s life. During this time, new moms go through significant physical, emotional, and relational changes, all the while managing the new responsibility and pressures of caring for a newborn. Along with feelings of joy and fulfillment, new moms experience a heightened level of emotional sensitivity, often with symptoms of anxiety and post-partum depression.
We offer an array of specialized pre- and post-partum therapeutic services, including a workshop for first time mothers-to-be, “Preparing The Emotional Nest,” individual assessment and consultation, psychotherapy, (in home or office visits), and a new moms’ support group, “Navigating New Motherhood” as described below:
PREPARING THE EMOTIONAL NEST, From Bump to Baby
This workshop is designed to help first time mothers plan and prepare for the emotional journey of childbirth and caring for a newborn. We will provide information, tools, and strategies to help each expecting mother create a personalized post-partum self-care plan.
NAVIGATING NEW MOTHERHOOD
We provide an ongoing therapeutic support group focused on the emotional needs of new mothers. This group will offer support, psychoeducation and various coping, relaxation and stress-management techniques.
